The Adventures of Lionheart, Temple Cat
The Numbers game...
It is often said that a Cat has 9 lives…a testament to the resourcefulness and superiority of cats to make the most out of one life. In reality …We live our lives in nine-year cycles influenced by the universal principles of the numbers 1 through 9. When we finish a cycle of nine (lives), we begin again.
2007 was considered to be 2+7=9 or a NINE year. A year that would be marked by completion and endings perhaps in relationships or jobs. My relationship with “tarty girlfriend”, a flirty feline with the yellow eyes ended. (mainly because she stopped visiting). There is no point to asking the question Why… …it just is. That is cat wisdom.
2008 is 2+8=10/1 or a ONE year which promises new beginnings and creativity. I am launching a new creative project that features myself on a calendar with pithy and whimsical sayings to inspire human beings.
What is going to be your personal year number in 2008?
To find it, simply add the month and day to the year of your birth date. For example I, Lionheart was born April 14 in the auspicious year of 2004. Add my birthday to the year 2008 to it and it translates into 4+14+2008= 4+14+2+8= 28/10/1. So 2008 will be a ONE year for me. Look at the descriptions of the numbers below to see what the theme of the year will be.
Key words for personal years:
- New Starts, action, originality , making decisions
- Harmony, cooperation , mediation, receptivity
- Scattering, freedom entertainment, self-expression
- Practicality, work, order, building foundations
- change, freedom, new intellectual interests, travel
- family, health, service , listening to others problems
- self-analysis, achievement, health problems
- business, power, responsibility, money
- giving to others, endings, humanitarian service
If by chance your number adds up to what is called a master number, the same double digit see the meanings below. These numbers carry extra energy that have a larger scope and vision that affects your community.
11. in the limelight, inspiration, spirituality
22.materialism, foundations for large endeavors
33.sacrifice, compassion for others
44. helping others resolve issues, spiritual counseling.

8 Great Ways to Start off 2008
It is January 1st, and most of us begin the New Year with a resolution to live a healthier, more balanced life.
After all the festivities and excess through the Holidays, we are ready for some clean living! We can start off this exciting week by following these 8 Ayurvedic tips to clean out.
- Jump start the new year by receiving a One hour massage. Use nice warm oils and let them soak in. It will melt tension and help to reconnect with our bodies.
- Take Two teaspoons of Castor Oil one night for a cleansing. Castor oil has a laxative effect. This mild dosage can help anyone to clean out their bowels. Be sure to do this when you will be at home near a bathroom.
- Think of Three people to forgive at the start of this year. In order for spiritual growth, we must let go of past hurts and blame. Our emotional baggage will feel so much lighter, once we truly forgive and forget.
- Use these Four classic Ayurvedic spices in your meals: Turmeric, Cumin, Coriander and Fennel. These spices will not only enhance the flavor of your foods, but work medicinally to improve digestive function, and burn off ama.
- Make space to honor all Five elements in your home. Start by cleaning out the clutter. Then place symbols of Air (NW), Fire (SE), Water (NE), and Earth (SW) in the directional corners. When our environment is clear of junk, then we can feel the Ether element, in the sacred center space of our home.
- Wake before Six am, right before sunrise. Take advantage of this early morning time to practice a few rounds of Sun Salutation. This yoga series will stimulate the immune, endocrine and circulatory systems, and flush out toxins.
- Do a simple meditation focusing on the Seven main Chakras. Breathing into these powerful centers, along with visualization and color association, will unblock energetic stagnation.
- Drink Eight glasses of water – If your body can handle 8 hours of gentle fasting, try and only sip on hot water with freshly grated ginger, lemon, and a little raw honey. This will clean out the lymphatic accumulation.
May 2008 bring us all health, happiness, peace and prosperity!

Vedic Astrology
The Nakshatras
A very unique component of Vedic astrology is the use of the nakshatras or lunar mansions. In a way, Vedic astrology uses two zodiacs – one is the traditional zodiac we are all familiar with, which is divided into the twelve signs, Aries through Pisces. The other zodiac is based on the constellations, and we called these twenty-seven divisions the nakshatras.
Each of these twenty-seven nakshatras is 13 degrees and 20 minutes, and each has a ruling deity (Hindu god or goddess). Each of these deities is tied to a mythological story, which can be used symbolically in interpreting a chart, and is helpful in giving a deeper meaning to one’s life. Many of these nakshatra deities are mentioned in the ancient text called the Rig Veda.
The Moon’s nakshatra is most important, as it is used in the calculation that determines the starting point of the planetary periods (or dashas) that one will experience. The Moon nakshatra also describes one’s mental nature and personality traits, and is therefore an important aspect used in understanding the astrology chart.
There are several important uses of the nakshatras in Vedic astrology. The Moon nakshatra is used strongly in relationship compatibility in India, and is helpful in describing the nature and focus of the union. Each nakshatra has a particular temperament or gana, of which there are three classes: deva, human, or demon.
Nakshatras are also used in muhurta or electional astrology. In muhurta, one would choose an appropriate lunar mansion for an auspicious outcome for an important event, such as a wedding or starting a business.
As you can see, the nakshatras play an integral and foundational role in the study and practice of Vedic astrology.
Debra Infante, Vedic astrologer, can be reached at (928) 639-0623 for astrological consultations, either in person or by phone.
